A Prayer for Words

Words…
But why?

Words for claps,
Words for appreciation,
Words for worth,
Destined to be words for disappointment.

Words that can’t be spoken
Become words that can only be written:
Those words for strangers
That should be words for those we love.

Words for release,
May become words for confession,
May become words for absolution,
May become words for worship.

Words that were not there
Are words that suddenly are:
It is those words that don’t feel like yours
That prove that these words are not ours.
